There is an important distinction between the exoteric and esoteric dimensions of religious traditions. Whereas the exoteric dimensions are often belief based the esoteric dimensions house a vast treasure trove of knowledge and practices that lead to authentic spiritual awakening. Often familiar with only the exoteric aspects of religion, our modern culture tends to treat religion as an obsolete relic from the past. The potential problem is that we risk throwing out the baby of authentic spirituality with the bathwater of belief based faith. When we gain deeper access and understanding of the esoteric aspects of religious traditions, we realize that our world’s religious traditions are Great Lineages of Human Potential.
